May the universe sparkle for you

Two chinese characters – the names of the couple form a carved out motif on the 22 carat yellow gold wedding band.

晶  = Sparkling        宇 = Universe

Positive connotations for a marriage, yes? 🙂

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This, I tell you brother
You can’t have one without the other
– Extracted lyrics to “Love & Marriage” by Frank Sinatra

i am my own celebrity

Walking into the 10 million dollar fit-out at Cloudland tonight to attend a VIPs-only function, everyone seemed like a star. Glittering clutches, brightly coloured lips, well-honed hair, trendy dresses, bling jewellery… you get the picture.  Fine finger food, wine, beers and cocktails were generously passed around amidst the thousands of plants, wire sculptures, and the oh-so-beautifully sculpted pink marble bar. The function room is on the top floor of Cloudland, where one could sip champagne beneath gleaming geometric brass plates hanging off the soffit, lean on the sculptural pink and white marbly counter and look through brass rails and operable timber  framed windows. The view down through the entire 3 storey space with its retractable glass roof, water wall, curvaceous folded steel stairway, green and timber feature walls, with dozens of entwining enchanting wire sculptures, was both a conversation starter as well as a conversation stopper. I felt like a starlet for this one night – carried away to an imaginary world, transported by this sensory assault of a series of richly decorated spaces.

For the rest of you who aren’t lucky enough to be in Brisbane to enjoy the maximalist hospitality of Cloudland, I’ve made you your own red carpet so you too, can have your moment.

it’s not just the gift

I believe that half the pleasure of receiving a gift is due to the lovely gift-wrapping itself. The shiny wrapper. The silky ribbon. The rustle of bright coloured tissue. A glimpse of cursive writing on the little gift card. The anticipation before releasing the ribbon. The happiness in the reception of a gift starts from the moment one lays one’s eyes on the package. Hopefully my gift wrapping for the buyers this season will create some magic for the receivers…

feelin’ fruity

In these recent hot summer days, we’ve been addicted to mocktails. Current fave is the virgin mojito – however, have recently rediscovered what a wonderful fruit pomegranate is from my little fruit deli in the next suburb. For those of you wowsers like me who don’t/can’t/won’t consume alcohol, here’s one for you.

POMEGRANATE MOCKTAIL

500g strawberries

1/2 cup pomegranate juice

5 cups lemonade

Handful of ice

Blend ice, strawberries and juice. Pour into tall glasses, and top up with lemonade. Add pomegranate seeds and mint leaves to garnish.

If you really can’t be bothered to make the above, then the least you can do is to look cool in one of these that I’ve prepared earlier.
